SIRHA French Barista Championship in Lyon

The 4th French Barista Championship took place at the SIRHA exhibition in Lyon from January 22nd to 26th 2011. During the three competition days the Barista Competition, Latte Art and Cup Tasting competition were organised and the ambience was really good. A high number of visitors and competitors were present and the organisation ran smoothly – surely a big event in the French world of espresso. Compliments to the French chapter of the SCAE! Additionally an education program about all coffee related topics was offered.

The new MAHLKÖNIG subsidiary, MAHLKÖNIG France SARL, sponsored this year‘s competitions as silver sponsor and we were very satisfied with the result. The champion of the Barista Competition 2011 is Ludovic Loizon. He was able to convince the international jury not only with his overall performance, but as well with his signature drink “Cheesecake coffee”.

Morgane Daeschner won the Cup Tasting Competition and Paul Arnephy the Latte Art Competition. Paul used a MAHLKÖNIG K30 Vario during his performance and demonstrated his abilities with beautiful Latte Art hearts, double
roses and many more creative inventions.

The three champions will represent France during the world competitions either in Bogota or Maastricht in June the year.
