For the second time a MAHLKÖNIG grinder has been honoured with the popular red dot design award.
Now excellent design is officially confirmed: The MAHLKÖNIG grinder ProM, which was launched in autumn last year by the Hamburg based manufacturer, not only convinces demanding coffee conoisseurs and caterers, but also the expert jury of the renowned red dot design competition. A few days ago the ProM received the award for outstanding design in the category red dot award: product design 2010. All products which were honoured during the competition had to convince an international jury of design experts.
The distinguished design of the ProM Allround grinder was developed by the well-known product designer Carsten Gollnick, who also created the espresso grinder K30 ES for MAHLKÖNIG (red dot design prize in 2005). This grinder marks the beginning of the success story of the MAHLKÖNIG Grind-on-demand espresso grinders as indispensable tools for successful baristas.
The ProM as a professional grinder for the food service industry and the ambitious private coffee connoisseur ads another chapter to this success story. The grinder stands for fresh grinding of espresso in portions straight into the port-a-filter as well as for freshly ground filter coffee – infused either by hand or prepared through French press. With the ProM, MAHLKÖNIG sets again a new milestone in coffee grinding – the expertise of professionals, combined with exclusive and outstanding product design.
Designers and companies from 57 nations with 4,252 products altogether entered the challenge in the category red dot award: product design.
“Due to their brilliant design and innovative approaches these products stand out from the crowd and were therefore able to prove their quality during one of the world`s hardest design contests”, comments the initiator of the red dot design award, design expert Prof. Dr. Peter Zec.
The award ceremony in front of more than 1.000 guests will take place on July 5th 2010 in the Aalto Theater in Essen, Germany. Afterwards the ProM will be on display in a four-week special exhibition in the red dot design museum on the premises of the Zeche Zollverein in Essen.
