That is why we are especially proud to support the best baristas as the official grinder sponsor of the World Barista Championships (WBC) 2009-2011 with the MAHLKÖNIG espresso grinders K30 VARIO and K30 TWIN. This is a special honor and can not taken for granted. Technical equipment like espresso machines and grinders have to undergo a very demanding selection procedure before officially being chosen by international experts for the sponsoring of the WBC-championships.
But innovation, quality and value succeed, so numerous K30 grinders will be in use during this years WBC taking place from April 15th to April 19th 2009 in Atlanta, Georgia (USA) along with the annual conference of the SCAA (Specialty Coffee Association of America). As the official grinder sponsor and competent expert on grinders, MAHLKÖNIG not only equips all of the three competition areas with its grinders, but also the complete preparation- and bar-zone.
Since 2000 national barista champions from more than 50 nations all over the world compete against each other in order to become “World Barista Champion”, the highest degree a barista is able to achieve. In the course of a competition, lasting for three days and including preliminaries, in the end the “World Barista Champion” is chosen and announced after a final between the best six competitors. Many internationally known baristas just like the 2007 Barista World Champion James Hoffmann from England, have been working with MAHLKÖNIG espresso grinders for a long time now.
MAHLKÖNIG and the WBC have been closely connected for ten years now. At the WBC 2005 in Seattle MAHLKÖNIG already acted as the first-ever sponsor for the competition. Not until then an official sponsor only for grinders was introduced!
